Waves of Change – Linda Dachtyl
Dynamic instrumentation on this beautifully conceived and masterfully arranged eclectic journey reminiscent of the work done by progressive rockgroups!
Themes run the gamut in this song list that seems to be a relentless quest for truth and freedom. Sometimes playful; sometimes more serious, this music is always carrying a degree of drama and theater. It requires not only your willingness to listening intently but occasionally allowing yourself to be swept away with emotion.
With Linda Dachtyl, who plays an assortment of keyboards, piano, Hammond organ, pipe organ, supportive electric and acoustic guitar, drums and even provides some vocal accompaniment, we hear guitar work from Larry Marotta; bass work from Steve Perakis and Dave Williams; the tenor saxophone voice of Mark Donavan and drumming from Cary Dachtyl (who also helps wife/date leader, Linda Dachtyl, with production chores and additional percussion). Lead vocalist Charles Valentino sings in an earnest and original style.
You must give-in to this music and let it move you in whichever direction it goes in order to fully appreciate it. It is beautifully conceived and masterfully arranged and it actually represents developmental stages in the life and career of Linda Dachtyl. Throughout her writing and performing, she reveals her eclectic approach to music and her wide appreciation of all musical genres.
