The motivation for this recording came to Janice Minor upon a study of her inspiring mentors and teachers, notably Ben Armato, clarinetist with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra for 45 years. Ben compiled the solos in the “Recital Clarinetist,” published by Carl Fisher, to provide a resource of clarinet repertoire for students of the clarinet. This recording serves two purposes: the first is to provide audio recordings (a companion to the published music) of the repertoire for pedagogical learning, the second is a tribute to Ben Armato, a distinguished musician, teacher, and mentor.
