Selected from the vast quantity of music produced to meet the needs of church and court, these pieces constitute a cross section of middle and late Baroque styles featuring the trumpet during the period in which it first discovered its niche in European artistic work. All over Europe, from England to the Spanish peninsula and especially in Italy and the Germanic countries, a trumpet repertory of functional and entertain my music was created by both famous and unknown but worthy composers, both of which groups are featured on this recording.
