Paul del Nero

Biography

Paul del Nero has performed on acoustic and electric bass, both in big bands and small groups. He has played many national and international jazz festivals, clubs, and shows, and has performed on both radio and television. He has toured with the famous Artie Shaw Orchestra, with several Broadway shows and has recorded on the Concord, Candid and GM labels. He is a former artist-in-residence at the Banff Centre and is widely known for his talent and style.

For over 25 years, Paul has been a regular choice of blues legend, Mose Allison, for his performances in the Northeast US. Together, they have played at Scullers Jazz Club in Boston, the Discover Jazz Festival in VT, the Marblehead Jazz Festival in MA, and countless other venues. Paul has also played with the likes of Hal Crook, Charlie Rouse, Donald Byrd, Buddy Tate and numerous other well-known jazz artists.

Paul is an Associate Professor at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, from which he earned his undergraduate degree. His Masters Degree is from the equally well-known New England Conservatory of Music. Author of two books on jazz improvisation, Paul’s passion for music includes teaching, as well as playing, and he enjoys running Master Classes and Clinics while auditioning new talent for Berklee, both at home and abroad.
