Gran Canaria Big Band
Biography
Gran Canaria Big Band is one of the most important and popular Big Bands in Spain. From its formation in 1997 until now, this group has participated in a large number of events such as performances, projects, collaborations, festivals, TV shows… always with great success.
Gran Canaria Big Band has collaborated and played with musicians such as Ron Carter, Carmen Lundy, Rosa Pasos, Robben Ford, Perico Sambeat, Laura Simó, Carme Canela, Cornelius Lund, and Eivin Sannes.
The band has toured Spain and Austria; they have also had several concerts broadcast on Spanish and Norwegian television.
Among the most important jazz festivals in which they have participated include: International Jazz Festival of Canary Islands, Gran Canaria Spañjazz, Noche en Blanco in Madrid, 50 Raons in Barcelona, Porgy & Bess in Vienna, Maspalomas Jazz Festival, and Telde Jazz Festival. The Big Band has performed at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, Barcelona Auditorium, Senate house of Madrid, and Pérez Galdós Theatre (some of the most important stages of Spain).
Gran Canaria Big Band is a permanent group of Cuyás Theatre in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria where they performs an annual and prestigious Christmas Concert.
