Christopher Millard
Biography
Christopher Millard has been the principal bassoon for Canada’s National Arts Center Orchestra since 2004. Prior to that, he held positions for 29 years with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the CBC Radio Orchestra. He has appeared at festivals throughout Canada as well as with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Santa Fe Chamber Music, Chamber Music Northwest, the Marlboro Festival, the Grand Teton Music Festival, and the World Orchestra for Peace. He has been a long-time faculty member of the National Youth Orchestra, University of British Columbia, the University of Ottawa, Domaine Forget and the National Orchestral Institute. His numerous recordings for the Summit and CBC labels have received wide acclaim, and his recording of the Hetu Concerto won the 2004 Juno Award. For five years he served as the host for the NAC’s orchestral podcast. Mr. Millard is a skilled woodwind repairman and a well known pedagogue in the field of reed acoustics.
